There are plenty of natural divisions as well – from private parks and preserves like Brookgreen Gardens, and Alligator Adventures offers an exciting break from the boardwalk.

There are also state and national parks like Myrtle Beach State Park, Huntington State Park and the reserves and wild areas around Winyah Bay, just a few minutes from the heart of Myrtle. Just a few miles north of the state line is the Bird Island State Reserve.

The best thing about all these areas is that they are just a few minutes’ drive away from the regular tourist activities that make Myrtle Beach so great, but there are many layers to Myrtle Beach.

In music, two of the biggest acts have to be the Carolina Opry and the Legends in Concert, but the Bowery always has great bands, and the city has festivals throughout the year.
